January BJP Finished

Well, after declaring that I was going to stay with the theme of nature for my Bead Journal Project (BJP) pages in the last post, I immediately did something abstract for January. It's supposed to represent snow and ice and freezing cold.

I also recovered these two stools and recycled an old quilt that was going raggedy at the edges. I felt a bit sad as I hand-quilted around the shapes because it's the first time I've ever done hand-quilting all by myself - it made me think of old friends.

OH this is gorgeous too! Can't say I like it better than your nature theme, but really, representing cold and ice does represent nature, right? Very very cool! Love the texture and the muted colors.

Oh my gosh! Exquisite - is that needle lace made by you too? Just gorgeous, the colors, design, everything.... ~sigh~ who knew ice and snow could be so gentle looking :)

Before I read your words, it made me think of sea urchins, so I thought it was a beach thing! I love the tactile look of it, wonderful page!

This is lovely. Such beautiful soft colors. I too thought it was a beach scene at first, until I examined it closely. No matter, it is breath-taking. I hadnt seen your work until now and I am going to look back through all your postings to see more of your lovely work. Just beautiful.

Wow, your work is stunning. Are you going to frame them in the end? How big are they? I missed your November BJP until now and yet again STUNNING. Such simplicity but so effective

Very lovely, Michele. I'm so impressed with the way you mix fibers and beads, blending them so that, even in the enlarged version of the picture, it's difficult to tell which is which. If this isn't "natural-looking," I don't know what is! Your beautiful, soft color blending is very appealing too!!!! Robin A.

I think the color palette is a beauty to behold in this piece. I would love to see a post on how you make those "urchin"-like pieces...are they crocheted? I keep clicking on the pics hoping to get a close-up... just lovely...

I'm in love with this one - I'm so glad you did it! It's so organic in feel and so calming to me.

I hear over and over that the page becomes what it wants and not what the beader decided beforehand. I think that speaks so much of true journaling from the heart. Your piece is lovely. It's cold looking and lacy like snowflakes. Your fingers certainly knew what you were doing even if your brain didn't.

Very beautiful, like a picture taken of secret ocean life. This impression is confirmed by the sideways picture you posted later.
